Art Gallery

A collection of art from my time at Georgia State University.

Artist bio

I am not an artist, but I’ve always had an interest in making art. I love to design things and have always felt I had a clear vision in my mind as to what I wanted to do. However, I’ve never had the talent and skill to execute them. I have always been a more technical mind; more inclined toward science and math than art and writing. However, over the pandemic, I found a new passion for designing games. The game design allows me to utilize my technical inclination for sciences and mathematics as well as my passion for design.

Designing graphics in Photoshop is one thing; learning how to make proper art is another. Before attending Georgia State University, I would dabble in digital and acrylic art. I was encouraged by my friends and decided to take up art as a hobby. I’ve steadily turned my rough drawings into more refined art with each piece. I’m still not amazing yet, but I’m still learning! I’ve always wanted to improve my skills and the two-dimensional design class at college has helped me a lot I feel.

Artist statement

I do not believe my pieces have a common theme as I wanted them to be unique. I tried to come into each with a new eye for color, temperature, and structure. However, if I could find a commonality between the pieces I made over this spring semester, I would probably say the texture I have used.

I was interested in trying to distinguish the different shapes and icons by their texture. I had a lot of fun coming up with many styles of texture in my art. Something about the rough underlying elements in many of my pieces this semester was striking to me. I feel even though my art is not perfect there is a human texture underneath which can be seen and felt by anyone who looks close enough.

Learning to love your own art is hard since our biggest critics are ourselves, so if there is a particular thing you like about any of these pieces, please let me know. Please try to appreciate the qualities of each unique piece individually and see if you can find the artist within the art. Many of these pieces also have a timelapse; it took a decent amount of work and planning to do this so please enjoy those! I also plan to incorporate more art pieces into this portfolio, so look forward to that in the future!
